Jagathy N. K. Achary (Malayalam: ജഗതി ആചാരി) (1924–1997) was a Indian dramatist and writer who also worked on Malyalam films. He is the father of popular film actor Jagathy Sreekumar. Born at the Jagathy area of Trivandrum, he took the name of the locality as part of his nom de plume.
After obtaining a B. A Degree, he also got a degree in Law, and entered government service. Later he joined the All India Radio as a staff artist. He was a programme executive at various stations.
Jagathy N. K. Achary wrote many plays for radio. He also wrote more than twenty plays for professional theatre. He was a partner of the Kalanilayam Theatre group, for which he wrote the hugely successful plays such as Kayamkulam Kochunni, Kadamattathu Kathanar etc. Was also a writer of humour, and a painter. He has acted in two major films Moonnam Pakkam and Desatanakkili Karayarilla as well as writing script for one film Veluthambi Dalawa, all of which were huge success in the box office.[1]
